WHO I AM – A PRETORIA SON

My name is Sello Mashula. I was born at Kalafong Hospital in Atteridgeville.

I grew up at 10 Manaka Street at my great grandparents’ house with my mother, before moving to Mamelodi to stay at my grandparents’ house, until my parents got a house back in Atteridgeville at Sehlogo Street.

I am a product of Pretoria schools Balebogeng Primary School, Mboweni Primary School, and Meridian College where I matriculated.

I have always been a Pretoria guy.

I know this city, its townships, its pain and its potential.

I got interested in politics at the age of 17, while I was still in Matric.

MY WORKING LIFE

I started working at Docex, a subsidiary of the South African Post Office.

I then joined R-1 Security Services as a Site Manager, and later worked at Community Media Trust as a Facilitator.

My time in the private security sector opened my eyes to how security workers who protect this country day and night are exploited, underpaid and forgotten.

MY POLITICAL JOURNEY

Before co-founding the Security Personnel Party of South Africa (SPPSA), I was a loyal member of the ANC.

I served as Branch Deputy Chairperson for 4 years, then as Branch Chairperson for another 4 years.

I was also a member of the ANCYL and served as its Branch Chairperson.

While leading at branch level, my community became impatient.

They told me the party I was leading was not in touch with their realities.

They advised me to find a vehicle a party that will listen to their cries and take the poor child forward.

WHY WE FORMED SPPSA

SPPSA was ideologically conceived in 2024 after realising the neglect of our Townships and the working class around Tshwane by the City’s administration and its leadership.

Engagement with affected communities started in 2025, which led to the official registration of SPPSA in 2026.

OUR MISSION

To mobilise security personnel and communities throughout South Africa to advance public safety, economic empowerment, employment creation, industrialisation and national prosperity through effective political participation, advocacy and public interest leadership.

To build a safe, prosperous, economically active and inclusive South Africa where every citizen enjoys holistic security.

OUR PRACTICAL MANIFESTO FOR TSHWANE

We don’t have empty promises. We have 6 practical points:

1.R1 Billion Budget for Ward-Based Security Companies in the City of Tshwane. Security must start in the ward.

2. 24-Hour Service Delivery for the City of Tshwane which will create thousands of jobs on night shift.

3.Proper Environment for Job Creation in Tshwane, especially for our youth and the destitute.

4.Co-sourcing of Security Personnel, Cleaners and EPWP insourcing with dignity, not exploitation.

5.Zero Tolerance on Corruption.

6.We want that CoT must build a mini fresh produce market in all the 7 regions. This will ensure that residents have access to food at a low price. This should be done in a form of PPP .

WHERE WE ARE CONTESTING

We are contesting all 107 wards in Tshwane only.

We do so because we want to be part of the solution to fix the capital city. We are not running away to Parliament we want to fix Tshwane first.

MY BELIEF

A safer Tshwane is a productive Tshwane that will create better opportunities for every citizen in the city.
