Jonas Diphofe Lekala (30) is wanted by plice for murdering his father John Hani Mashifana
(72) in cold blood for his money.
The suspect stabbed his father to death multiple times using two knives and a glass bottle.
Jonas is also wanted for the attempted murder of his mother; whom she stabbed on the same day he killed his father; and is currently recovering in hospital.
Tshwane District spokesperson Johannes Van Dyk said a case of murder and attempted murder has been opened.
The deceased’s younger brother Tim Mashifana told Tshwane Talks that he received a call that morning from his brothers’ neighbours informing him about the incident.
“We rushed to the scene and we found police and our brother lying in the pool of blood with many stabbed wound on his stomach, neck, face,” he said.

“The family is in shock at the way our elder brother died.
We want justice and answers why our brother died a gruesome death in the hands of his son,” Mashifana said.
He said according to the information they received; Jonas came over at around 5am to demand money from his father as usual.
He immediately started stabbing his father and when his mother tried to intervene, he also stabbed her.
The tenants who heard the noise from the house he came and kicked the door and found the son on top of his father stabbing him.
The tenants managed to wrestle the weapons from Jonas who ran away after the deed.
“The police are looking for him and we urge public if they see him must not approach him as he is dangerous but instead they must call the police,” Van Dyk said.
