Mamelodi Karate Sensei Godfrey Tababe has expressed pleasure regarding the way his charges performed at the National Karate Tournament earlier this month.

Sensei Tabane told Tshwane Talks that he feels good about the performance of his boys as this was the first time all of them were participating in a national tournament and didn’t have experience in this regard.

He said the national Karate tournament involves participants from all the province’s of the country and his boys did well and were not overawed by the occasion.

He pointed out that all along the boys have been taking part in local tournaments.

The annual karate tournament is known as SA National under IKO1 Hitchikeki.

Out of the group of his boys who took part in the tournament, two of them won medals.

They are Balbo Ledwaba who won a gold medal in the under 40 kg division and Tswello Mosehle who won a silver medal in the under 30 kg division.

The two boys will now go to another qualifying tournament where chances are that they may go overseas if they perform well there.

Sensei Tabane said Hunchee, who is the chairperson of the Karate Association in South Africa and is based in Cape Town, is the one who will decide if the boys deserve to go to Japan after assessing them at the afore-mentioned qualifying tournament.
