The Tshwane Regional structure of the South African National Civics Organisation has been disbanded after its chairperson Veli Khoza was suspended from the organisation recently.

Khoza was suspended together with the organisation’s Secretary Martin Moloto and his deputy Portia Mokwena.

The leadership of SANCO will be going around Tshwane introducing new interim structure of Regions and Tshwane.

“Here in Tshwane we are sober, we are not drunk and we know our real leadership structure which is under interim chairpersonship of Fire Mlilo Mashao and interim secretary Evelyn Matlaila,” said one of the members of the newly-installed Interim Tshwane Zonal Task Team Joseph Kgatle.

“When you see Veli Khoza, Martin Moloto and Portia Mokwena calling meetings and wearing SANCO regalia you must know that they are pursuing a bogus structure because they have been expelled from SANCO and are merely sowing confusion in the community of Tshwane,” he said.

Speaking to Tshwane Talks at a meeting convened at the Mamelodi Community Hall on Saturday to introduce the new Tshwane Interim Zonal Task Team, SANCO Provincial chairperson Abram Matlakala Mashishi said it has emerged that the disbanded SANCO Tshwane Zonal structure under the chairmanship of Khoza was serving its own interests instead of those of the poor and that they as the Provincial structure had given the Tshwane structure lots of opportunities to reflect upon its mandate, and after failing to adhere to the mandate to serve the poor, they decided to disband this structure,” said Mashishi.

“We have given the Interim Tshwane Zonal Task Team four months to organise a conference which will duly elect a permanent leadership structure like all other regions of SANCO,” said Mashishi.

“Those that have been expelled from Tshwane SANCO Zonal structures had turned the organisation into their own personal property and were not aligning themselves with the organisation’s constitution,” he said.

He revealed that the Johannesburg Zonal structure has also been disbanded and replaced by an interim structure.

SANCO Interim Deputy Convener in Mamelodi Danny Bosi told Tshwane Talks that they have introduced the real Mamelodi SANCO interim leadership structure to the community.

“We need to get rid of the various SANCO structures that have mushroomed around Mamelodi that we don’t know of,including the one which held a meeting in Mamelodi last week and we are going to find a proper office of SANCO in Denneboom which will be communicated to the public as the official SANCO office,” he said.

“There’s lots of people who are going around Mamelodi using SANCO’s name but the only structure that we recognise is that which falls under Joseph Kgatle as the chairperson,” said Bosi.

“We have heard of SANCO officials who solicit money from the people in order to give them the help that they need and the people working at the Denlyn offices which are purported to be those of SANCO are not recognised by the national, and provincial structures of SANCO,” said Bosi.

He urged people who work at the Denlyn offices of what is called SANCO to contact the real SANCO structures in Mamelodi so that they can be given the necessary recognition.
