City of Tshwane MMC for Environmental Management and Agriculture Obakeng Ramabodu is concerned about random littering activities that take place on Tsamaya Road in Mamelodi East.
“There is a tendency by local residents to dump their litter on Tsamaya Road and we are here to put an end to such a culture, and we also urge municipal waste collection officials to collect the litter of Mamelodi residents consistently and that waste collection activities must not be disrupted even when we are in the festive season,” said the MMC.
“We are here to observe and monitor the process and progress of service delivery in Mamelodi, as we believe that the people of Tshwane deserve a good government, and we believe that we are a good government,” said Ramabodu.
“Among other issues, we are here with other MMCs to tackle the issue of compliance among spaza shops and also to make sure that the issue of poisonous food that we have encountered several times now is dealt with decisively,” he said.

“We are happy about the cooperation of the people of Mamelodi as they are willing to support the City of Tshwane government and we are saying indeed this is the government of the people,” enthused Ramabodu.
He announced that according to by-law enforcement regulations, a person found using a car to dump litter illegally will get fined an amount of R15 000 and the vehicle will be impounded while pedestrians engaged in littering will be fined R5000.
“After making sure that we have conducted awareness campaigns and workshops regarding illegal dumping, we will then enforce the said by-laws vigorously,” he warned.
He said the people of Mamelodi must know that littering is a crime and must not be committed in the community.
“I’m happy to see the MMC educating us about littering and as residents of Tsamaya we now know about new by-laws and we will follow it,” said Selina Kekana.
