“Rascals and criminals want to see their pockets full of money and don’t care about the community of Rama City,” lamented Cecilia Monyane as she presented Rama City’s annual development progress report.

“It is painful to me that this year I have nothing positive to report to you for the year 2024 regarding Rama City because projects were stopped and grabbed by rascals and criminals who fought against us left, right and centre and I want you as the community to know that failure in community projects has not been caused by the committee that is under the leadership of Mpho Nthite because our aim is to provide jobs for members of the community,” she said.

“Developers also failed us a lot and today we are divorcing them as they have failed to build many houses as promised, hence the community is fighting us and accusing us of not doing our job because of these developers,” said Monyane.

Member of Rama City youth and Women’s Forum Gontse Kamanga said the following:

“I want you to know that Rama City is a private development project which was organised by our leader Mpho Nthite and I am wondering as to why we want to turn our backs on him, and my point of view is that he is not going anywhere and must remain as our community leader so that he can complete the good development job that he has started,”emphasised Kamanga.

“Let us stop walking in the dark, let us stop following the wrong ways because Rama City is our future,” she said.

Rama City Treasurer Moipone Sesoko announced that most of Rama City’s funds for the 2023/2024 financial year were spent on expensive court cases in the High Court ranging from R150 000 upwards as they fought against rascals in court; some of whom are related to them and that the Rama community must know that whenever one does a good thing not all people will appreciate it.

Community leader Aus Sina told Tshwane Talks that Rama City has big challenges about people who stop development projects, and this has led to the community’s committee being in and out of court constantly in their fight against the said rascals.

Representative from mayor’s office of Madibeng, Dineo Mina Maluleka said the residents of Rama City have houses today because of Rama City community leader Mpho Nthite.

“We are behind Mpho Nthite and we are here to support him,” she said.

Rama City resident Kgaogelo Poo appealed to community members to embrace the truth at all times and avoid lies.

“You belong to Rama City and Rama City belongs to you,” he said.

“There’s no hunger at Rama City and Mpho Nthite can give one a decent house with electricity and a flushing toilet, thus avoiding using pit toilets, so please stop following people who don’t have plans for us as members of Rama City, “said Poo.

“Rama City is like a suburb today because of Mpho Nthite and he will stay on as our leader because God has given him power and wisdom and we love him,” said resident Daphney Moana.

“All infrastructure projects must kick-start in January 2025 and I won’t turn my back on the community after promising them service delivery,” said Rama City committee chairperson Mpho Nthite.

Nthite expressed sadness that there are some areas in Rama City which are still without electricity.

He announced that several houses have been built recently in Rama City and will be completed before the end of December this year and that several other people would be awarded houses immediately after the community meeting on Saturday 14 December 2024.

Beneficiaries of the five houses are Octovia Lydia Mhlongo, Adolph Phetlhe, Koko Ma-Morake, and Nate Ngwato.

Nthite warned residents not to buy RDP houses from rascals as they are for free and that once a resident buys an RDP house then there is nothing that he and the Rama City committee can do about the matter.

He announced that Rama City is moving forward as there are several projects like installation of fibre and the building of a new library which provide job opportunities for the youth in the community.

Nthite said projects like pasteurised water, agriculture and candle-making will be prioritised at Rama City.

“By the end of June next year we want to see a huge difference in Rama City and our wish us to see many youths being employers and contractors instead of being employees,” said Nthite.
