A hostage drama is currently underway at Bufferzone in Mamelodi east, where by a police officer is holding his own family hostage.
At the moment it is not known as to what had led the police man to resort to such a drastic action.

SAPS Spokesperson Brenda Muridili told Tshwane Talks the following.
“The police’s hostage negotiators as well as the Special Task Force and the other units of SAPS are on the ground in Mamelodi east, Bufferzone responding to a hostage situation”.
Muridili explained that about 8am this morning a police Constable held his own family hostage and allegedly fired two shots before the police arrived on the scene.
“At the moment the police man is refusing to let his grandmother, nephew and young boy out of the house and we can confirm that 3 people are inside the house with the Constable,” said Muridili
She said the police who are at the scene are also investigating the motive which has led to the hostage situation.
