The Patriotic Alliance in Tshwane region celebrated Women’s month with a bang at the Old Motor Museum in Silverton, Tshwane on Saturday.
The party’s women’s Alliance was formed a few years ago and it was the first time that it brought together women of all races to celebrate the women’s month, and they came dressed in beautiful green attire.
The women enjoyed themselves and listened to different motivational speakers from across all races and two lucky ladies won a book and a T-shirt by an author of a religious book of life.
Among the guests were PA Tshwane regional head of the party’s women’s Alliance Dr Moselene Duplesis, Regional secretary Pretty Morudu and other powerful successful women across Tshwane.
Dr Duplesis told Tshwane Talks the following: “Today we are celebrating women’s day and appreciate those who went before us like our Lillian Ngoyis, our Sophie De Brians, our Winnie Mandelas and today’s celebration is purely to bring women together besides different cultures, educational backgrounds, different financial statements and the event was fruitful.”
She pointed out that women of all racial colours go through a lot of issues like rape, abuse and related stuff and urged all women to come together and celebrate their womanhood.
“We have to rise together and hold one another’s hands and fight against all odds.” she said.
“We have to wake up and support each other because women gave birth to the earth and we would kill the earth if we don’t stand together as one,” said DuPlessis
“My message to all women out there is even if you have lost hope let me tell you there is hope and all I want to say is I am the last hope, and the next one is the last hope.
We are talking about Ubuntu and I am because you are, so reach out and touch and never lose hope, and this is our opportunity as PA because our identity was on the table as Coloured people but our manifestos make sure that Whites, Blacks, Coloureds and Indians will be governed under one roof, and I want to say to every woman out there let us hold hands and come together from all races and just encourage each other in our set goals and break the cycle of poverty, and GBV,” said DuPlessis.
Regional Secretary of Tshwane Woman Alliance Pretty Morudu said the following: “The event went smoothly as planned.
The reason for the event was to bring unity amongst women and to remember women who went to march for the freedom of women in 1956 who took to the streets and said enough is enough and threw dom pasess back at the Union Buildings.”
She said those were very brave women who said no to harassment and stood firmly and said Mayibuye IAfrika.
“Again, the aim was to remind ourselves that unity is power and that the message was message was, let’s pick up the baton, or the pieces where Charlotte Maxeke, Lillian Ngonyi, Sophie De Bruyn, and others have left of and run with it,” said Morudu.
