Parliament once again failed to do its oversight duty by letting Social Welfare Minister, Sisi Tolashe, to play a fool with the Members of Parliament’s Social Welfare Portfolio Committee.
Activists and Citizens Forum is very much concerned and disappointed with the ongoing don’t care attitude of MPs.
It is disgusting that Parliament is ignoring the tongue lashing of the Zondo Commission report that indicated that Parliament had over the years failed in its Constitutional duty.
They failed to keep the Executive accountable. Parliament has failed the country dismally.
With all these serious allegations and evidence of wrongdoing in front of the Portfolio Committee against Minister Tolashe, the committee decided not to act against her.
Instead they shift their responsibility to the law enforcement agencies.
What a shame!
It is our view that with all these scandalous allegations against Minister Tolashe, she should have been fired long time ago.
If she is stays a day longer, she will further damage the already badly bruised image, reputation and integrity of Parliament.
Members of Parliament must know that they are there to represent the citizens of the country.
They are not there to cover up the scandals of their colleagues.
President Cyril Ramaphosa must fire Minister Sisi Tolashe immediately.
