As the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania would like to register our disappointment
and sadness following the untimely death of Ms. Gina Dhladhla in the custody of her
employer Cartrack in their Rosebank office.
Without trying to play to the gallery, as someone might interpret it that way, the action of the employer and/or whoever was representing the employer at the time of this incident…..
we hereby put it in this way:
1. Ignoring the medical documents presented to you as an employer and/or an employer representative of record at the workplace does NOT only show disregard to the Basic Conditions of Employment Act as amended, but total devaluation of human life.
That is totally unprofessional, irresponsible, unlawful, illegal, unhealthy and unacceptable at any level of workplace irrespective of which position one is occupying.
2. We further condemn this hard-to-believe action as inhumane and anti-humanity.
Man is a social being and NOT an economic animal at all.
From where we are, the employer (Cartrack) is ONLY worried about the work at hand
instead of the wellbeing of the person who has to perform that work.
3. The treatment of Cartrack, meted out unto the late Ms. Dhladhla, reminds us of
the fact that some employers are still viewing their employees as either wage slaves or economic animals.
That cannot be left unchallenged especially by us, as the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania.
4. The Dhladhla family has lost a daughter who was earning an honest living with
the hope of improving her own life for a brighter future.
5. The matter is going to be followed up until the truth abd the intent of the
employer comes out.
6. Human life, once lost, is irreplaceable.
This innocent soul is lost whereby the
employer, on the other side, will be comfortably replacing poor Gcina Dhladhla
from a pool of unemployed and hungry stomachs without even feeling any loss
at all.
7. The Department of Employment and Labour is hereby called to intervene, get
to the bottom of this and come up with a heaviest amount of consequence management that will ensure that no other employer does this to any of its employees including employees who might be working for a service provider and stationed in their premises.
8. The regular income, in the form of salary that she stood to receive whilst alive, MUST be received by her family and/or dependents until the time of her
retirement arrives as if she would be still alive at that age.
9. The salary, stated in paragraph 8 here above, MUST be subject to an annual increase of a guaranteed fifteen (15) percent plus other fringe benefits due a
properly employed person.
10.All funeral related needs MUST be borne by Cartrack.
11.All financial costs related to any pre- funeral and post-funeral rituals, that are to be performed by the family, MUST be borne by the employer without any unnecessary delay NOR hassle of some sort.
12.All colleagues and customers, who were affected by during this messy incident,
need to be taken care of in terms of counseling and/or rehabilitation.
The same goes to the Dhladhla family and relatives of this poor Gcina’ soul.
