Mzwanele Manyi has been sacked as the chief whip of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party in the National Assembly, with Colleen Makhubele stepping into the role, party sources confirmed today.

The abrupt removal has sparked speculation about internal divisions within the party.

Insiders point to Manyi’s alleged arrogance and failure to unify or shield his caucus as central to his downfall.

Critics within the party also accused him of allowing Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema to overshadow the MK Party’s opposition voice in Parliament.

“His approach alienated key members and weakened our stance,” a party source revealed.

Makhubele, a seasoned politician, is expected to bring a more collaborative style to the role as the MK Party navigates its position in South Africa’s volatile political landscape.

Manyi has yet to comment publicly on his dismissal.

The shake-up comes as the MK Party seeks to solidify its influence, raising questions about its internal cohesion and future strategy.

Further developments are anticipated as the party addresses these growing pains.
