Chatunga Mugabe, the son of the late Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe was arrested earlier this morning at Hyde Park, Johannesburg on a charge of attempted murder.
The 28-year-old Chatunga Mugabe allegedly shot a person employed as a guard at his family residence in Hyde Park.
The guard has since been taken to hospital.
“The K9 Unit, Bramley Police Station detectives as well as forensic crime scene management officers are processing the scene of the shooting and another man, who is 33-years old has been also been taken into custody in connection with the shooting incident,” said Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi in a statement released to the media today.
The motive for the shooting is still unclear but sources have revealed that it is not the first time that Mugabe’s son Chatunga finds himself in trouble with the law.
Meanwhile, police have now confirmed that Chatunga Mugabe and the man arrested together with him for questioning have now officially been arrested and charged and will appear before the Alexander Magistrates Court soon on charges of attempted murder.
