The City of Tshwane’s Energy and Electricity Business Unit confirms that the 132/11 kV Olievenhoutbosch Substation project has reached a significant operational accomplishment despite persistent adverse weather conditions, particularly rainfall.
The continuous rain has severely affected testing activities at the substation resulting in the temporary suspension of certain works in strict compliance with electrical safety
regulations as testing cannot be conducted under wet conditions.
Notwithstanding these challenges the technical teams worked tirelessly and successfully energized Transformer R marking a critical step toward full restoration.
Progress on site has been significantly disrupted by poor access conditions with
muddy terrain causing several vehicles and trucks transporting materials to become stuck.
These challenges have been further exacerbated by road encroachment and
illegal occupation which continue to hinder safe and reliable access to the substation.
The team remains on site and is continuing with cable installation works where conditions permit.
In parallel, engagements are underway with the Roads Department to identify immediate interventions to improve access and assist in releasing vehicles trapped in the mud.
The Multi-party Coalition Government remains steadfast in its pursuit of infrastructure development and accelerating service delivery.
A further update will be provided later
this evening before midnight.
