MK Party leader in Tshwane Abel Tau opines that the recent ANC march to the City of Tshwane Headquarters, Tshwane House was nothing but a political gimmick.

On Friday the ANC embarked on what it called ” Mass Walk To Deliver People’s Mandate” march and handed it’s petition to incumbent City of Tshwane mayor Dr Nasiphi Moya.

“The whole thing was a march by the ANC to the ANC, against what the ANC has not done, and should do, and it was a gimmick because we all know that the ANC is in charge in Tshwane,” said Tau in an exclusive interview with Tshwane Talks on Monday.

“The ANC should have told the residents of Tshwane as to what it is that they are doing instead of having its members gathering and running amok in the city,” he said.

“This vindicates our suspicions that wherever and whenever the ANC is in power, it uses its privileged position to play politics and we suspect that before long the Extended Public Works Programme (Tlhaba-Tlhaba) will soon be an extension of ANC branches and the mayor’s hundred days plan to revitalise the City of Tshwane has been turned into a political event at the expense of the taxpayers money, but we really believe that the ANC must channel its energies in the right direction,” explained Tau.

“We don’t have faith in the ANC and we would like them to prove us wrong and deliver for the people of Tshwane, otherwise the march will forever be regarded as a mere act of causing traffick congestion and self-gratification by the ANC to assure themselves that they still have the support of the masses,” he said.

Tau pointed out that though he doesn’t regret that the ANC is in power again in the City of Tshwane, the fact remains that the ANC has abandoned the people’s mandate a long time ago and that it would be best if Tshwane was under the leadership of the MK Party.

He said people died in Hammanskraal during the outbreak of cholera in the area under the leadership of the DA and the City has regressed a lot under the DA.

“The MK Party”s intention to unite blacks is sorely needed in Tshwane more than ever and that is why the MK Party will contest the 2026 local government elections with the aim of gaining an outright win in Tshwane, and also in other municipalities countrywide,” enthused Tau.

“We believe that MK Party is better placed to deliver the kind of services that our people need, and this should be done in a manner that doesn’t compromise our position and stance,” said Tau as he in the process expressed his disillusionment regarding regarding coalition governments.

“Black people will better be served by an outright majority government of the MK Party, hence the great move by many left-leaning activists towards the MK Party,” he said.

Tau said as MK Party they are not happy at all regarding foodborne illnesses that have sprung up in the country as a result of foreign-owned spaza shops and that the government has dropped the proverbial ball big time nationally, provincially and locally regarding the issue of foreign-owned spaza shops.

“We want to make it clear that the laws of our country must be adhered to by all and sundry including by foreigners, and we want to see a situation where the MK Party will be the leading party in the country so that it can implement the said laws,” said Tau.
