The President of the Mayibuye Youth Movement Keamogetswe Masike met with community members of Brakpan and Ekurhuleni on Friday, to engage on the pressing issues that continue to plague their daily lives.

Among the concerns raised were the persistent challenges of water shortages, electricity instability, and high unemployment levels.

Community members expressed deep frustration with the current state of governance under the ANC, lamenting that after more than 31 years of democracy, they still do not have proper roads.

“It’s sickening,” one resident said, reflecting the widespread discontent within the area.

Many also raised questions about Mayibuye particularly what it seeks to do differently from the ruling establishment.

In response, the President of the Youth Movement emphasized that Mayibuye’s Restoration Manifesto is founded on the principle of Total Freedom and Emancipation Now.

He clarified that Mayibuye is not a movement of promises but of action an organisation that seeks to address the issues facing communities immediately, not in the distant future.

As part of the engagement, a commitment was made to build a borehole for the Brakpan community to alleviate the ongoing water crisis.

The President also reaffirmed that he will continue to be actively involved in community programs, especially in high schools, mobilizing young people to take a stand and reclaim their future.

This engagement marks a continuation of Mayibuye’s people-centered approach going to the ground, listening to the voices of the marginalized, and building practical solutions that restore dignity and hope.
