Local businessman and MALLDTA chairman Stemmer Monageng put a smile on the faces of Mamelodi entrepreneurs by sponsoring them with a cash giveaway to help them boost their business.

10 lucky local entrepreneurs walked away with R1000 rand each in cash.

This noble gesture was part of a career entrepreneur day which was held at the Solomon Mahlangu Square in Mamelodi west, Tshwane on Saturday.

Various local businesses brought their stalls to the career entrepreneur day event.

Winners were so happy to get the cash and most of them said it will boost their businesses.

Monageng also bought a product from each and every stall that was on display at the event as a way of supporting local businesses.

Thabang Tshabalala told Tshwane Talks that the reason he decided to host the career entrepreneur day was because he saw that local small businesses were often neglected and that many people didn’t know about the existence of local entrepreneurs or their products. Local business exhibits their services and product and got the opportunity to network with our entrepreneurs, grow their busineess and opportunity to get new clients.

“I decided to bring them together in one place so that the community can view their products and support them,” said Tshabalala.

“I like to support local businesses because they are our brothers and sisters and this is the first event of its kind and we are planning to do it annually,” he said.

Tshabalala said he knocked on many doors seeking sponsorship for the event and he finally got the support that he needed from the Mamelodi Local and Long-Distance Taxi Association (MALLDTA) chairman Stemmer Monageng, who opened his doors and never hesitated to help him without any questions, because he was doing it for the community of Mamelodi.

“I would like to thank chairman of MALLDTA Stemmer Monageng for the sponsorship and for the donation, and without him this event would have not been possible and not forgetting all local businesses who brought their stalls,” he said.

MALLDTA chairman Monageng told Tshwane Talks that he is the people’s person and loves to help out in the community.

He said his office is always flocked with people seeking help on various issues and he helps them as a local businessman and chairman of MALLDTA.

“When I met this young man Thabang, I liked his idea and I decided to help out because the very same people he is trying to help are the ones who use our public transport always, and they do support our taxis, and without them we are nothing,” said Monageng.

“I love to plough back into my community of Mamelodi and I don’t want to see people who hustle in the right way suffer, because we must put Mamelodi on the map and Mamelodi must not be known as a bad township, but a good place and we must scrap all the bad memories of Mamelodi and create good memories,” enthused Monageng.

“I’m happy and I want this event next year to be bigger and better,” he said.

Monageng said he was planning an event of SMMEs for the month of December and that he will give away R30 000 rand to the SMMEs of Mamelodi.

“And we are calling on all SMMEs of Mamelodi to come out with their businesses and be known so that they can get clients and push their businesses forward,” he said.

“I’m so happy to see local business man putting the needs of the community first and showing support and I wish all businesses man could do this,” said Andrew Majika consumer.

Another consumer Freddy Mahlaola said chairman Monageng shows that he loves his community and he help who ever needs help and does not choose.

“I wish God grant him more days to continue do great work and may God bless him and what he did today was so beautiful,” he said.

“I’m so happy that we are surrounded by people like chairman Monageng with his beautiful gesture and it is an honour to have him in Mamelodi,” said Sandra Matlaela.
