Members of Operation Dudula marched to the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Tshwane on Friday to voice their concern regarding EFF leader Julius Malema’s apparent incitement of the police to persecute Dudula members.
The concern stems from evidence read out to the Madlanga Commission on 7 July this year whereby a WhatsApp message coming from Malema was conveyed by cigarette mogul Mo Sayed to embattled SAPS Crime Intelligence deputy head Feroz Khan.
According to the evidence, the said message was dated 10 June 2021 and was corroborated by a similar WhatsApp message dated September 2025 wherein Malema calls for the Political Killings Task Team to act on Operation Dudula members.
Operation Dudula has described Malema’s apparent influence on the police, particularly General Feroz Khan, as tantamount to state capture.
Operation Dudula maintains that the draconian measures it has been subjected to by the SAPS since June 2021 were at the behest of Malema.
In recent years Operation Dudula members have been arrested and teargassed during public demonstrations and also summonsed to appear in court by the SAPS in relation to their anti-illegal migration activities.
Speaking to Tshwane Talks during the march to the Madlanga Commission on Friday, Operation Dudula Tshwane Region leader Kotedi Tshipe said the following:
“Julius Malema is a traitor and has always been one; he will never touch Operation Dudula and he must know that we are a force to be reckoned with; we are fighting for our rights and sovereignty as South Africans.”
He said that the Madlanga Commission must act against the apparent influence that Malema has on the SAPS.
“It is concerning that Malema has the temerity to use a state institution like the SAPS to persecute a people-centred organisation like Operation Dudula,” he said.
Kotedi expressed gratitude to the work done by the Madlanga Commission up to now and encouraged it to “keep up the good work it is doing.”
