The National Commissioner of SAPS, General Fannie Masemola has arrived in Kasane, Botswana, where he is attending a two-day high level consultative meeting on transnational organised crime.

This high level meeting has brought together Police Chiefs and specialised detectives and Intelligence operatives from Botswana, Namibia, Angola, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Its aim, to ensure all law enforcement agencies within the Southern region strengthen and heighten working relations through joint operations and investigations, explore new strategies and promote joint efforts to prevent and combat transnational organised crime.

The meeting will see all six countries commit resources and capacity that will focus on dealing decisively with organised crime syndicates involved in stock theft, illegal mining, cyber crime, smuggling of stolen vehicles, drug trafficking as well as human trafficking and smuggling.

During the opening session of the two-day meeting, the Minister for State President, Defence and Security , Honourable Moeti Caesar Mohwasa appreciated the commitment and tireless efforts displayed by Police leadership of the six countries in Strengthening collaboration to fight cross border crimes.
