The ACDP sends our deepest condolences to the families of the 10 fatally injured victims of the Kwa-Noxolo tavern shooting,” said ACDP Cllr Xoliwe Batalisi today.

“We also continue to pray for those injured in this terrible attack.

“The ACDP in Rand West, however, calls on the Gauteng Liquor Board to enforce liquor trading laws in our municipality.

Had they been working harder to close down illegal taverns in Rand West, Sunday’s brutal attack would not have happened.

We are shocked at reports that it took days for the legality of the tavern to be checked.

“A high-profile campaign is now needed to warn owners of illegal taverns to get their affairs in order or close their doors.

Law-abiding residents of Rand West deserve a safe and peaceful Christmas.”
