The City of Tshwane, through its Roads and Transport Department, wishes to inform residents, commuters, and all road users of a planned road closure in Mamelodi as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade and modernise the City’s economic infrastructure.
This intervention forms part of the City’s broader programme to improve road networks, enhance mobility, and support economic activity by ensuring safer, more efficient transport corridors.
The closure details are as follows:
Location: Closure Type: Start Date: Duration: Tsamaya Avenue, Mamelodi K-18
Full road closure (eastbound carriageway)
Thursday, 9 April 2026
Approximately 18 months
This closure is necessary to allow for road construction and infrastructure upgrades
that will improve road safety, traffic flow, and long-term service delivery in the area.
Motorists are advised of the following:
•No public vehicles will be permitted within the designated work zone, as
guided by the approved traffic management plan
•Increased traffic volumes and congestion are expected on surrounding routes
•Travel delays may occur in and around the affected area
•Access to certain areas adjacent to the construction site will be restricted
Road users are urged to exercise patience and caution, adhere to temporary road
signage, and make use of alternative routes where possible.
This project reflects the City’s continued investment in infrastructure that enables economic growth, supports communities, and improves daily mobility for residents.
The City appreciates the cooperation and understanding of all affected road users during this period of construction.
