Friends, families and supporters of the Moragama family have expressed anger regarding the postponement of the murder case of Tshiamo and Baleseng Moragama of Extension 17 in the Far East of Mamelodi.
The case was postponed for the umpteenth time at the Mamelodi Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Family Spokesperson Nthabiseng Buthelezi expressed dissatisfaction regarding the frequent postponement of the case as this drains them emotionally and that they also spend lots of money on transport to attend the case.
“We want the culprit to be sentenced once and for all as it is clear that he shot and killed Tshiamo and Baleseng,” she said.
Anti-Gender Based Violence Brigade member Sarah Rapadu said they feel very bad that the case has been postponed and that they don’t understand why the court keeps on postponing the case.
“But we will keep on attending the court case in support of the family even if it goes to the High Court,” she said.
“This matter causes pain to the family of the deceased young ladies and we want to see this man going straight to jail and we don’t want postponements any longer because this guy has killed two cousins,” said Mamelodi resident Martin Matseke.
ActionSA Mamelodi branch chairperson Martha Makete said they expected the case to get underway but are now angry as it has been postponed to 20 May due to the so-called further investigations and we want to see change when the case resumes because we want to see this guy Mnisi going to jail; justice must be served,” she said.
“The justice system must speed up the court case because parents of the deceased ladies come from a far-flung place like Limpopo and have to pay lots of money for transport in order to attend the court case,” she said.
Voice in Action leader Kgothatso Moloto said it was sad that the case has been postponed yet again and that the family has to wait for another two months before seeing justice being done and the question is how can important documents like J88 and autopsy report go missing?” he fumed.
“The system is denying justice to the family; the justice system has denied justice to people who need it the most and my opinion is that the NPA must fix its systems to avoid wasting everyone’s time,” he said as he in the process pointed out that postponing the case means other court cases will be delayed as well.
Ward 6 Solomon Mahlangu ANC Women’s League chairperson Busisiwe Mgiba said as parents they are tired of seeing youths being killed like they are animals and that she is angry as the NPA doesn’t realise that postponing cases causes pain among the families of the deceased.
‘We are sick and tired of these postponements which end up with the accused being released scot free,” fumed Mgiba.
“We are not satisfied with the postponement and we want the case to be referred to the High Court as it is a doubled- murder one,” said MK Party leader in Mamelodi Jack Simelane.
“Since the Madlanga Commission started we are now aware that police investigators can be bribed and the investigators must just come clean and reveal as to how much time they need to complete investigations into this matter because these postponements are a delaying tactic aimed at squashing this case,” he said.
Thabiso Mnisi is charged with 5 counts of premeditated murder, murder, attempted murder, possession of unlisenced firearm and possession of unlisenced ammunition.
Outside the court different organisations sang and danced; declaring that the Magistrate was delaying them as they want the culprit Thabiso Mnisi to be sentenced to a jail term for the crime.
