Louis Boshoff AfriForum’s Campaigns Officer
Anti-illegal migration political party Operation Dudula and Afrikaner lobby group AfriForum have both denied that they are working together.
The denial by both organisations comes after an unsigned message whose writers didn’t even identify themselves started doing rounds on social media.
The unattributable letter in essence claims that Operation Dudula is sponsored by AfriForum and that the two organisations would be protesting together at the forthcoming G20 Summit in Johannesburg.
The message further says the planned protest by Operation Dudula and AfriForum sends the wrong message to investors and that big companies who could bring billions into South Africa might think the country is unsafe and unwelcoming.
“Fake news! This is simply false,” said AfriForum’s Spokesperson Louis Boshoff as a response to the false message doing rounds on social media.
Besides denying that AfriForum sponsors Operation Dudula, Boshoff also denied that AfriForum will be protesting at the G20 Summit either alone or with Operation Dudula.
An Operation Dudula insider also told Tshwane Talks that the letter indicating cooperation of any sort between Operation Dudula and AfriForum is fake news.
She made it clear that political parties and agents who are opposed to Operation Dudula are the ones spreading the aforesaid fake news so as to discredit Operation Dudula in the eyes of black South Africans.
The insider also indicated that Dudula has not yet made a decision whether it will protest at the summit or not, because there are several factors which must be considered before such a mammoth task can be embarked upon.
The G20 is in essence a conference that is attended by leaders and head of state of the so-called twenty richest counties in the world.
It is an annual event which rotates from one country to another and it is the first time that it will be held on the African continent in Johannesburg, South Africa.
This year’s summit will take place from 22 to 23 November 2025 and USA President Donald Trump has already indicated that he will be boycotting the summit.
