DA Councillor Jarad Frimmel and his team of volunteer community responders became Good Samaritans when they helped a woman to deliver a baby on the sidewalk in Lynnwood Glen on Friday.

According to DA Councillor Jarad Frimmel, he and his fellow volunteer community responders were called to come and assist by a security company that is based at the Lynnwood Glen.

Apparently, the woman had just visited Times Square and started feeling not well and took a taxi, but when she started going into labour inside the taxi the driver asked her to get out of the taxi and as a result, she ended up writhing in pain on the sidewalk at Lynnwood Glen.

“The lady is from Johannesburg and the baby she gave birth to on Friday was her second child, but she hadn’t named her yet at the time she gave birth to him on the sidewalk in Lynnwood Glen,” explained Councillor Frimmel.

“The baby was born after 9 months and is a beautiful baby boy with no complications so far,” said Frimmel.

“We arrived at the scene and assisted in delivering the baby whilst we were waiting for an ambulance to arrive, and fortunately everything went well,” he said.

Frimmel told Tshwane Talks that an ambulance arrived shortly after the lady had given birth and the mother and child were then taken to Mamelodi Regional Hospital in the ambulance, where they were recovering presently.

“I didn’t get the details of the mother, but she was grateful when she left the sidewalk with her baby boy and from our side, we are happy that we ensured she and the new-born child were well-looked-after until they were both taken to hospital,” he said.

A congratulatory message on the Old East Forum Facebook reads as follows:

“With skill and compassion, our dedicated volunteers safely delivered a beautiful, health baby boy and both mother and child were calm and courageous throughout, we are delighted to report no complications.” (PARAGRAPH) The message further reads as follows:
