The Pretoria Magistrates’ Court has postponed the corruption and money laundering case against Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula to 09 July 2024 to the High Court in Pretoria.

Mapisa-Nqakula will now be served with a formal indictment regarding her case.

“The Investigating Directorate (ID) provided Mapisa-Nqakula with a full disclosure of the docket and it was further confirmed that a list of state witnesses was provided to her on 08 April 2024, in order for her to comply with her bail conditions of not having any direct or indirect contact with the state witnesses,” said Investigating Directorate Spokesperson Henry Mamothame.

Charges against Mapisa-Nqakula stem from the time when she was Minister of Defence.

The state alleged that she received “kickbacks” in the firm of millions of rands from a service provider who won several tenders from the Department of Defence at the time Mapisa-Nqakula was the Minister.

Right at the beginning of investigations against her Mapisa-Nqakula has been demanding full docket disclosure including the names of the witnesses against her.

After appearing in court for the first time this year regarding the corruption case, the NPA indicated that another person will be arrested and join Nqakula as a co-accused in the case.

For now, it has not yet emerged who the second accused person would be in this case.
