The City of Tshwane, under the leadership of the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Utility Services, Cllr Frans Boshielo, has successfully energised four new mini-substations in Rama City, Ward 31.
This milestone forms part of the City’s #SwitchOnTshwane initiative and represents a major step towards universal electrification.
The project will provide formal and safe
electricity connections to 240 households in Phases 3 and 4, marking the culmination of extensive planning and infrastructure development aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.
“This is a proud moment for the City of Tshwane and the community of Rama City,”
said MMC Boshielo during the switch-on ceremony.
“Energising these four minisubstations is not just about flipping a switch; it is about switching on hope, opportunity, and dignity.
Reliable electricity is a fundamental service that enhances safety, supports learning, enables small businesses, and improves overall living conditions.”
This achievement follows the successful completion of Phases 1 and 2, through
which 2 500 households in Rama City have already been connected to the electricity grid.
The electrification project will continue across the remaining phases until the entire Rama City area is fully energised.
The City of Tshwane acknowledges the patience and cooperation of the Rama City community throughout this process and reaffirms its commitment to expanding electrification and infrastructure development across the municipality.
“We remain committed to powering more communities and improving the quality of life for all our residents,” concluded MMC Boshielo.
