The City of Tshwane handed over 197 title deeds to beneficiaries of Soshanguve Ext 6 in Ward 90.
To date, the City has handed over a total of 2 311 title deeds in this area.
In recent months, we also visited the communities of Eersterust, Soshanguve Ext 10 and Elandspoort to hand over title deeds.
City of Tshwane MMC for Human Settlements Ofentse Madzebatela said as a city, we are very proud to facilitate security of tenure for these beneficiaries and will continue to prioritise the handover of title deeds as we recognise the importance of giving ownership rights to beneficiaries.
During the handover of deeds, residents were reminded of the following:
• A title deed is a legal document and must be kept in a safe place as proof of ownership and for future reference.
• Losing or misplacing this valuable document will result in enormous legal expenses to replace the original document.
• Beneficiaries must protect their properties against fires, storms and any natural disasters.
This will save them from unnecessary financial expenditure and frustrations.
• Residents must make protection arrangements with reliable, registered and reputable insurance companies in the event of damage to their properties.
“The city still sits with a large number of title deeds that are unclaimed due to the difficulty in locating some beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries without title deeds are encouraged to visit their regional offices to enquire about the status of their documents,” said MMC Madzebatela.
Madzebetala said the handover of title deeds is a true demonstration of administration’s commitment to protect the property rights of housing beneficiaries.
