On Monday, 15 December 2025, at approximately 09:00, members attached to SAPS Rietgat were conducting a suspect tracing and tracking operation in relation to wanted individuals.

During the operation, information was received regarding the whereabouts of a suspect wanted in connection with an armed robbery.

The information was operationally verified, confirming that the suspect was at his place of residence.

A takedown operation was planned and executed. Upon arrival at a residence in Block NN, Phase 2, Soshanguve, members approached the premises tactically and gained entry.

The suspect was located inside the residence and arrested.

A subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of a firearm.

The suspect failed to produce a valid firearm licence and could not provide a satisfactory explanation for being in possession of the firearm.

The suspect was arrested on charges of armed robbery and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

Investigations are ongoing to establish whether the suspect may be linked to other criminal activities.

The recovered firearm will be subjected to ballistic analysis to determine if it was used in the commission of other crimes.

The District Commissioner of Tshwane, Major-General Samuel Thine, commended the members for their dedication and continued efforts in enhancing safety and security within the community.
