ANC DEMANDS SHUTDOWN OF ISRAELI EMBASSY

The ANC picketed outside Israel’s embassy in Pretoria to demonstrate their solidarity with the people of Palestine.

This follows two weeks of horrendous attacks, leaving thousands of Palestinians and Israelis killed and displaced.

The African National Congress (ANC) has taken a stand in support of Palestine by organizing a picket outside the Israeli embassy in Pretoria on Friday.

ANC deputy secretary general Nomvula Mokonyane has urged South Africans to boycott imports from Israel in response to its retaliatory siege of Gaza following attacks by Hamas.

Speaking during a march to the Israeli embassy in Pretoria in solidarity with Palestine, Mokonyane said the ruling party’s condemns Israel actions calls for the closure of the embassy.

“We are demanding the Israeli ambassador to leave South Africa and the embassy must shut down,” Mokonyane said.

She said South Africa’s calls for an immediate end to hostilities in the Middle East, the release of hostages and the establishment of humanitarian corridors. The ANC march was aimed at raising awareness of the Palestinian people’s predicament and to advocate for peace talks between the warring nations.

Palestinian Ambassador to South Africa Hanan Jarrar said she was grateful to the South African government and organizations for their support.

“Let’s raise our voice and stand for peace and justice. Together we gathered here in this apartheid entity united against the ongoing tragedy Israeli is doing to our people and the 75 years occupation.

ANCYL president Collen Maltjie said that South Africans must go out and boycott anything that belong to Israeli starting with the shops and the bank that funds them with this war.

“Israeli are the terrorist and they must be stopped at any cost, and we called upon the Presidents of South Africa to shut down the embassy immediately,” Malatjie said.

“What is happening is very painful and I wish the two nations could resolve the conflict permanently this time because it’s been long overdue,” Faranh Muhhamed.
