The MMC for Health, Cllr Tshegofatso Mashabela, together with the MMC for
Community Safety and the Portfolio Chair of Health, convened a high-level
interdepartmental meeting bringing together senior representatives from key City departments and law-enforcement authorities.
This strategic engagement was held to
strengthen coordinated action on the critical challenges affecting public health, regulatory compliance, and the overall safety of communities across the City of Tshwane.
In this meeting, departments responsible for municipal health services, immigration oversight, environmental management, policing, and safety enforcement reflected collectively on the growing risks facing the City.
The discussions focused on illegal
operations that threaten public health, recurring compliance gaps involving
undocumented individuals, and rising safety concerns in various communities.
Through this dialogue, the leadership emphasized the urgency of joint planning, integrated operations, and improved information-sharing between departments to ensure that the City responds swiftly, lawfully, and effectively to emerging public health
and safety threats.
The MMC for Health reiterated that safeguarding the well-being of residents requires a unified, disciplined, and proactive interdepartmental approach.
By working collaboratively, departments can close gaps in enforcement,strengthen oversight, and ensure that municipal health by-laws are upheld consistently across all regions.
The meeting reaffirmed the collective commitment of all stakeholders to intensify coordinated operations,enhance compliance mechanisms, support vulnerable communities, and promote a safer and healthier living environment for every resident of Tshwane.
