As a citizen, I have noted with dismay the manner in which the City of Tshwane’ service charter contributes to the slow pace of service provision negatively impacts to the residents that in most cases, the residents report problems deriving from sewerage blockage but the City fails to respond urgently even if the problem does harm to their health.
And, the resident find themselves having limitations to hold municipality accountable legally because the service charter says sewerage blockages report should be attended within a week period.
It is not an apperception but a fact as it has some terms of reference that people are being managed through a simple statement “it has been reported and the workers will come” while in the other hands resident tolarate unhealth conditions of sewers blockage.
Currently, as the residents, we reported this challenge (pictures attached serve as empirical evidence), and we expected positive response since yesterday as per promise from City, but the concrete conditions tell us that we will suffer from these unhealthy conditions like yester years.
Hence, we have nothing to do but tolerate this stink sewerage flowing in the yard and at the street as well.
I am of the view that the City of Tshwane should consider the service charter review with reference to sewerage blockage login and move from a week to 24 hours with intention to protect and advocate good heath to the good residents.
