The South African Police Service (SAPS) in Tshwane, supported by various law enforcement agencies including the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Community Safety, the Department of Correctional Services, as well as members of the Community Policing Forum continued with intensified crime-prevention operations on Saturday, 1 November 2025.
This zero-tolerance operation was strategically planned and executed in the Temba and Hammanskraal policing precincts, forming part of ongoing efforts to curb crime and enhance safety across the City of Tshwane ahead of the festive season.
The operation was conducted under the command of the District Commissioner, Major-General Samuel Thine.
Detectives played a key role by tracing and arresting 270 wanted suspects linked to various criminal offences.
These included suspects wanted for serious crimes such as 1 for murder, 14 for attempted murder, 6 for armed robbery and 3 for rape.
In addition, two operational teams supported by a roadblock unit were deployed to patrol and maintain high visibility in identified hotspot areas.
During the operation, 18 undocumented foreign nationals were detained and handed over to immigration authorities for further processing.
One employer was also arrested and fined for hiring undocumented persons.
A total of 637 individuals and 206 vehicles were searched, while 33 vehicles were verified to establish whether they had been reported stolen.
Police further patrolled 10 hotspot areas and conducted compliance checks at 16 liquor outlets.
Several establishments were closed for violating the Liquor Act, and 551 663ml of liquor was confiscated.
Twelve people received fines for public drinking.
Two suspects were arrested for possession and dealing in drugs after officers recovered three sachets of crystal methamphetamine, approximately 15.6 kilograms of dagga, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Additionally, one suspect was arrested for robbery, and a replica firearm was seized.
Investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspect may be linked to other criminal activities.
District Commissioner Major-General Samuel Thine expressed appreciation to all departments and stakeholders involved, commending their cooperation and commitment to ensuring safer communities.
