Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Task Team Unit members from region 1 Sector 1 in Mabopane received a tip-off from the TMPD Drug Unit on Sunday, about a suspected white Toyota Venture coming from Mootla in the Northwest Province to Soshanguve, north of Tshwane.
Following the information received, the task team members intercepted the said vehicle in Soshanguve Block HH.
The vehicle was found with three African male occupants aged between 25 and 35 years.
During the search of the vehicle, animitation firearm was found and three cell phones were wrapped onto one of the suspect’s legs, which could not be accounted for.
The suspects were arrested and charged for possession of suspected stolen property, possession of dangerous weapons and resisting arrest.
They were detained at a local police station.
All three suspects will appear in court soon.
This arrest emphasises ongoing efforts by the TMPD to combat crime in all regions of Tshwane.
On the same day, Task Team Unit members received a tip-off from an anonymous source regarding a spaza shop in Soshanguve Block TT that is suspected to be dealing in drugs.
The members visited the spaza shop and the suspect fled the scene,leaving the shop unattended. A search was conducted in the shop and cannabis was found with an estimated street value of R2 000.
The community is urged to report any related criminal activities to TMPD regional offices or to the nearest police station.
The TMPD will not condone any criminal activities and will ensure that Tshwane residents are always safe.
