BLITZ AGAINST CRIME OVER THE WEEKEND LEADS TO SEVERAL ARRESTS

The Pretoria Central Police Station SAPS under the leadership of Colonel Maboea conducted a weekend-long multi-disciplinary blitz against crime in the Pretoria CBD resulting in the arrest of a total of 14 suspects in relation to various offences.

Two suspects were arrested for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, one for shoplifting, one for malicious damage to property, six for possession of drugs, one for intimidation, one for pointing a firearm,at a police officer, one for hit-and-run and one for being an illegal immigrant who was also in possession of drugs.

In one incident police received a tip-off regarding a suspect involved in an armed robbery incident whereby victims were robbed of three iPhones and a camera worth R40 000. 00

The suspect was apprehended at the corner of Paul Kruger and Minaar Streets and was found to be in possession of a toy gun and a balaclava.

Station Commander Brigadier Hlengani Gabin Mashaba has thanked all members of the Pretoria Central Police Station SAPS for the successful arrests carried out during the blitz against crime.

He further urged members of the community as well as commuters to be more vigilant when using public transport.

“Ensure that you take details or any kind of information regarding the public transport vehicle you are using at any given time as such information may assist in the process of any investigation that may be necessary,” cautioned Brigadier Mashaba.

Meanwhile, all the suspects arrested in the weekend blitz against crime have already appeared in court and their cases have been postponed pending further investigation.
