TSHWANE CELEBRATES FINANCIAL “RECOVERY” WHILE VEHICLES ARE REPOSSESSED

The ANC-led Tshwane government is celebrating so-called financial “recovery” based on unaudited financial statements unavailable to the public.

But residents do not experience financial recovery through unaudited spreadsheets.

They experience it through whether the City has enough cash to pay suppliers, maintain essential services and fix failing infrastructure.

This is not a picture that can be spindoctered on paper; The City’s firefighting vehicles have been repossessed because of non-payment, while water leaks are escalating and water losses have reached 48% – the ANC continues to overspend on water tankers.

Tshwane’s available cash has declined, year on year, from R2.3 billion to R1.8 billion, while SMMEs are only paid far after 90 days has passed.

The residents of Tshwane might not be privy to these unaudited financial statements, but what they can see is water running down the streets and open excavations being left behind because the City apparently does not have the money to properly restore them.

There is perhaps no better metaphor for the ANC’s financial management: Tshwane is full of open holes, but the ANC cannot plug the financial holes because it is running short of cash.

This is why, come the 4th of November, residents will reject the ANC/EFF/ActionSA coalition of chaos and vote to take their city back; putting Cilliers Brink back in the mayoral seat the only mayoral candidate that has pledged to take hands with communities and the public sector to delivery services for all Tshwane residents.
