PRETORIA CENTRAL HOSTS LITTLE FRIENDS TO EDUCATE THEM ABOUT CRIME AND GIVE SAFETY TIPS

Earlier today the station received several learners from “Resomecentre” based in Manyeha who want to pursue a career in the law enforcement department and this is part of the school safety programme also creating awareness in order to educate children about various social ills affecting society.

We do understand that the children are based in an area that is a bit disadvantaged and has had several issues, such as domestic violence, substance abuse, lawlessness, and other related concerns that might hinder their safety and wellbeing.

This was a tour of various components in the station to educate them and also instil a culture of reporting any form of crime that might pose a threat in their future.

They were taken to the victim centre room where they were engaged with and given goodies.

Furthermore allowed to take pictures with the crime prevention team at their led by Captain Mogotsi, and were also fortunate that the inspection team from Province Support was present at the station and had received the kids with love.

This will be a continuous effort to invite other schools, day care centres, high learning institutions to also educate them about careers they can pursue within the SAPS.

We urge parents to be actively involved in their children’s wellbeing and give support to the teachers and police to win the fight against bullying, harassment, substance abuse, and other related matters that hinder learning in schools.
