Executive Mayor of city of Tshwane Dr Nasiphi Moya said the following:
Today, I had the honour of being conferred with the title of Alderman during the City of Tshwane’s Council Meeting.
The Aldermanship title is an honorary title awarded to councillors in recognition of leadership, service and experience.
We congratulate all councillors from different political parties who were honoured with the title.
It is a privilege and an honour to serve the residents of Tshwane.
Deputy Mayor if Tshwane and MMC for finance Eugene Modise said the following:
Council today conferred the title of Alderman on 28 councillors, myself among them, for outstanding service to Council.
I accept it with gratitude and with a clear sense of what it recognises.
Service in this city is never the work of one person.
It belongs to the residents who kept raising their hands until we listened. To the officials who do the unglamorous work of making a city function.
To the councillors who hold the line on the difficult decisions.
Congratulations to my fellow Aldermen conferred today, my sincere appreciation to the Chief Whip of Council, Ald. Molatelo Mashola, and to Council for the honour.
I am truly grateful.
