The Speaker of Council, Cllr Mncedi Ndzwanana, has fulfilled a commitment made earlier this year to support Mahlenga Secondary School and Lesedi Secondary School with much-needed computer equipment.
The Speaker visited both schools in January as part of his office’s Back-to-School
Programme, following their outstanding performance in the 2025 National Senior
Certificate (NSC) examinations.
During the visits, the principals highlighted a shortage of computers and appealed for assistance to strengthen teaching and learning, particularly
in information technology-related subjects.
On Monday, 3 August 2026, Speaker Ndzwanana returned to the two schools to honour
his commitment, handing over five computers to each school.
The donation was made possible through the generous support of Futrans, a local
business that responded to the schools’ need for additional computer equipment.
The schools expressed their appreciation for the donation, noting that the computers will make a meaningful contribution to teaching and learning while providing learners with improved access to technology and digital learning resources.
Speaking during the official handover, Speaker Ndzwanana said the initiative
demonstrated the commitment of his office to supporting young people and their educational aspirations.
“In January, when I visited these two schools to congratulate them on their outstanding performance in the 2025 matric results, I promised that my office would do everything in its power to support them so that they can achieve 100% this year.
Today, we are delivering on that promise by providing five computers to each school, as requested,” said Speaker Ndzwanana.
He also expressed his appreciation to Futrans for partnering with the Office of the Speaker and contributing towards the development of learners in the City of Tshwane.
“Your invaluable contribution will go a long way in enhancing teaching and learning at Mahlenga and Lesedi Secondary Schools.
These computers will not only make learning
more accessible and convenient for learners, but will also empower them with the digital skills and opportunities they need to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world,” he said.
The donation forms part of the Speaker’s broader efforts to support education and
promote a culture of excellence, discipline and achievement in public schools across the City of Tshwane.
Through initiatives such as the Back-to-School Programme, the Office of the Speaker
continues to engage with schools, identify challenges affecting learners and explore
partnerships aimed at providing practical support to improve educational outcomes.
