By Sandile Nene
Acting Government Spokesperson
Government commends Banyana Banyana for their courage, determination and fighting spirit following their CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 match against Tanzania at Stade Moulay Rachid in Casablanca, Morocco.
While the result was not what the team and the nation had hoped for, Banyana Banyana represented South Africa with pride and showed the resilience that continues to inspire millions across the country.
Government calls on all South Africans to continue rallying behind our national women’s football team as they regroup and prepare for the next matches in their WAFCON 2026 campaign.
Banyana Banyana remain a source of national pride and a symbol of the growing strength of women’s football in South Africa and across the continent.
Let us continue to wear our green and gold, stand united, and show Banyana Banyana that the nation remains firmly behind them throughout their WAFCON 2026 journey.
