Freedom Day is a reminder of what collective courage once achieved and that we can collectively restore the promise of democracy again.

We must become active citizens again; not spectators.

This means holding our Ministers to account by showing up at Parliamentary hearings.

Holding our MPs to account by visiting constituency offices and demanding regular reports on their work.

Holding our Councillors to account by calling them directly whenever service delivery fails.

It means being present in civic associations, community police forums and school governing bodies.

It means planting communal food gardens to fight hunger and starting cooperatives to build shared income.

Change will only come when we, the people, drive it.
