The arrogant and confrontational behaviour from Lt General Shadrack Sibiya towards the evidence leader of the Madlanga Commission, Adv Adila Hassim SC, is totally wrong and unacceptable.

Adv Hassim is merely doing her work by putting questions and evidence to the witness.

For Lt General Shadrack Sibiya to accuse evidence leader Adv Hassim of acting as Lt General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s lawyer and that he Lt General Sibiya is being treated as an accused by the Commission, is just a smokescreen.

He is trying to hide from all the damaging evidence that the Commission is putting in front of him.

Instead of answering questions that are being put to him, Lt General Shadrack Sibiya is ducking and diving and either cannot remember or deny; or will say Sgt Nkosi will be the right person to answer the relevant question.

We have said before that General Sibiya must not forget that lies have very short legs.

This Madlanga Commission is about the truth.

It is for him to answer questions and produce any counter evidence against the damning allegations against him from several police officers who have appeared before the Commission.

It is not about pointing fingers at others.

Activists and Citizens Forum is calling upon Lt General Shadrack Sibiya to change his attitude and arrogant behaviour and assist the Madlanga Commission to get to the bottom of the rot within in the criminal justice system and especially the SAPS.
