Three suspects have been fatally wounded following a shootout with the police on N12 road on 14 January 2026.
It is reported that, the police operationalised information about suspects who had just robbed a courier vehicle in Tokoza.
The suspects driving a silver corolla vehicle were spotted at Kliprivier road joining N12 road towards Soweto when the police tried to stop them.
They sped off leading to a high-speed chase and shootout.
The suspects vehicle came to a standstill on N12 road between Xavier and soweto off ramp.
Three of the suspects were declared dead and one was injured.
The police found two firearms and some of the suspected stolen stock.
The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni applauded the team comprising of National Counter Intelligence, Gauteng Tactical Response Team, Gauteng Taffic Police Airwing and private security companies for their collaborative effort that always ensures that criminals are behind bars.
