The Democratic Alliance (DA) visited Jubilee Hospital in Hammanskraal amid the apparent Typhoid Fever outbreak in the area today.
The goal of the visit was to see and talk to those impacted, but also to discuss the impact and extend of the disease and what is the best way forward.
The CEO of Jubilee Hospital denied public representatives access to the premises and furthermore denied to have a meeting to answer our questions.
This is not only absurd behaviour from an official who should know better, but unconstitutional behaviour that leaves one asking more questions, rather than getting any answers.
The DA will not be deterred, but will conduct further oversight inspections, and continue to engage with the communities in Bronkhorstspruit and Hammanskraal that have been impacted by this disease.
We call on the City of Tshwane and Mayor Moya to come out of their cocoon, as the residents of Hammanskraal and Bronkhorstspruit are looking for answers.
Water tankers are not sustainable and have been proven time and again to pose a serious danger to the health of residents.
Mayor Moya must stop hiding behind social media influencers and boards to address the community’s desperate needs for solutions and answers.
