The South African National Taxi Council (SANTACO) will observe the 2025 October Transport Month under the theme of: “Striving for Safety, Service and Embracing Technology: Building a Taxi Industry of Substance.”
The campaign signals SANTACO’s commitment to elevating commuter experience through safer operations, improved service delivery, and the gradual adoption of smarter technologies that strengthen the sustainability of the taxi industry.
October Transport Month will commence with SANTACO’s participation in the Smarter Mobility Africa Summit, taking place from 1–2 October at the Sandton Convention Centre. President Motlhabane Abnar Tsebe is scheduled to address delegates on the topic: “Embracing the New Urban Era Through Smarter Mobility Across Africa.”
His participation will highlight SANTACO’s proactive role in shaping the future of urban mobility across the taxi industry.
Beyond the summit, SANTACO will take its message directly to commuters and operators through the Hlokomela Road Safety Campaign.
The campaign will visit taxi ranks and routes where service shortfalls have been identified, reinforcing SANTACO’s dedication to continuous improvement, accountability, and the wellbeing of passengers.
“Our promise this Transport Month is clear: we are striving for safer journeys, better service, and smarter ways of doing business.
This is a journey of fixing, building, and improving step by step together with our commuters and operators,” said President Tsebe.
SANTACO remains committed to walking this journey with all stakeholders, ensuring that the taxi industry continues to play a central role in the transport ecosystem, while embracing innovation and safeguarding commuter trust.
