Eersterust-based Dynamic Life Changers Foundation is on a quest to raise awareness against cancer in their community.
Towards this end, the foundation has linked up with an organisation known as Cancer Survivor Ladies to host a “Run and Walk for Cancer Awareness” event on Saturday 25 October 2025 in Eersterust.
“The streets of Eersterust in Tshwane will come alive with purpose on that day due to the Run and Walk for Cancer Awareness event,” said Dynamic Life Changers Foundation Secretary Iolanty Meintjies.
“The 5 kilometer event is more than a fundraiser; it’s a tribute, a movement and a lifeline,” said Meintjies.
The theme of the event is “Early Detection Saves Lives.”
Meintjies explained that the event aims to highlight the importance of proactive health screenings while honouring those who lost their lives to cancer.
Meintjies encouraged participants to bring a balloon or photo in remembrance of a person who has lost their lives to cancer, this as a way of simultaneously creating a powerful visual image of love, loss and hope.
“The Run and Walk” event will start at the Zoo Lake, opposite the local BP petrol-filling station in Eersterust and participants will walk in solidarity; dressed in pink and black colours so as to honour those who lost the battle against cancer as well as those who are still fighting the battle against it.
“This initiative is more than raising awareness; it is about saving lives and creating a moving tribute that transforms grief into unity,” she said.
“Funds raised at the event will go towards supporting early cancer detection campaigns, cancer mobile screening clinics as well as emotional support programmes for families of those affected by cancer,” she said.
Tickets for the event are already available at the Pick n Pay outlet in Eersterust at R100 per person and will include a goodies bag.
Meintjies pointed out that the impact of the event doesn’t only depend on ticket sales but also on the contributions of individuals, businesses philanthropists and community champions through the following measures:
1.Monetary donations to expand outreach and screening efforts.
2. Sponsorship of goodies bags, refreshments or event logistics.
3. In-kind support such as balloons or volunteer services.
4.Amplifying the event’s message by sharing flyers and inviting others to attend the event.
Meintjies said the event is a “Call To Action moment” for anyone willing to help and donations can be made to the following banking details of Dynamic Life Changers Foundation:
