PARTY-HOPPERS END UP AT MK

One day I woke up from slumber and asked myself the following question:

“Where do disgraced, impeached souls and political party-hoppers go to as a last resort to maintain their relevance in South African politics?”

And the answer came swiftly before I could even finish outstreching my sleep-weary arms:

“They end up at MK Party, stupid!”

It is therefore a foregone conclusion that disgraced, impeached and subsequently fired former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebana will also end up at MK to seek redemption.

Though for now she has announced that she won’t be joining any political party, I can put my head on the block that she will eventually join the MK Party, where she will rub shoulders with other disgraced personalities like John Hlophe who was also impeached and subsequently fired from his position as a judge.

And at the MK Party, Mkhwebana will also meet perennial political party- hoppers like Abel Tau, Jimmy Manyi and Bongani Baloyi.

And that is not all because in the corridors of the MK Party Mkhwebana will also find characters who have the proverbial cloud hanging over their heads like Tom Moyane, Lucky Montana and Floyd Shivambu.

Mkhwebana herself was fired for being incompetent and lacking basic understanding of the law, while Hlophe was booted out of his position because he tried to influence Constitutional Court judges to rule in favour of Jacob Zuma in a case related to the infamous arms deal scandal.

Abel Tau, who joined MK Party last week, was first a member of the DA, then joined ActionSA, then formed The Transformation Alliance (TTA), then ditched his own TTA and joined another party called Forum 4 Service Delivery for which he stood as Premier candidate in the 29 May general elections this year.

Jimmy Manyi, who was gifted the now-defunct TV station ANN7 and accepted it gleefully at the time not knowing it was a dead horse, was first a senior member of the ANC, then formed the ATM before leaving it to join the EFF and now he is at the MK Party.

Bongani Baloyi was DA mayor in Midvaal, then joned Herman Mashaba’s ActionSA, then formed his own party called Xiluba, and now he is at MK Party.

Floyd Shivambu who abandoned the EFF red overalls and joined the MK Party, has a cloud hanging over his head after being mentioned in an affidavit related to the shameful VBS scandal.

Tom Moyane has a cloud hanging over his head in that the Nugent Commission pointed him out as the mastermind behind state capture shenanigans at the South African Revenue Services.

Lucky Montana is also currently embroiled in state capture allegations after the State Capture Commission put the blame squarely on his shoulders regarding corruption at PRASA, where he previously worked as CEO.

If the above-mentioned personalities who have joined MK Party were characters in a Western/ Spaghetti film, at this point in time the film’s director would cut their roles abruptly and make them ride into the sunset and lie in the shadows like battle- weary cowboys with gunshot wounds do; never to be seen again, and never to be spoken of or heard of again.
